| July Meeting
Our July 9th meeting welcomed 2 new guests and 34 in attendance. 2 members (Masha and Angela) were dropped in that they missed 6 consecutive meetings/events. So, we now have 63 rather than 65 active members. Distance from Martinsville has been cited as the main reason that these 2 dropped as well as 2 others that were dropped last year.
Ms Frisco, Patrick County Tourism, presented an update on the calendar project and presented a free calendar to all those that had a photograph published as well as those members who entered the contest. Later she was informed that Jay Martin was not included in the list. Other projects were discussed.
Since the June meeting members were invited to a field trip to Peaks of Otter, and the Covered Bridge Festival.
Pending trips and issues include a July trip to Williamsburg/Jamestown as well as River Run in Ararat.
New business included an update for the Patrick County Fair in September with language changes and the addition of a “Humor” category. Cindy Joes volunteered to be in charge of the photography registration at the fair again. Folks wanting to assist should see Cindy.
Pat gave an update on the field trip planning to Williamsburg. She found a really good group rate at a local motel.
Alfred gave an update on PSA and invited everyone to their new web site (linked to our club’s web site)
David gave an update on the web-page. Please send him photos that won monthly competition as we want to show them off.
Sammy and wife made the Martinsville Bulletin for their hard work in getting their home registered on the Historical Registry and other improvements.
Submit those photos for possible postcards to Ellen for Reynolds Homestead and Ms Frisco for Patrick County.
Sammy gave a presentation on his vacation to Bermuda followed by the judging of photos.
Due to the increase in membership and photo entries in the monthly competition, we must limit our number of entries to 2 per person.
Our August meeting (August 6th) will judge those “Vacation/field trip” photos and/or “Being Creative”.
